Series 3300 Improves Process Control and Reduces Costs
NATICK, Mass. – January 18, 2006 Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG) today announced that its metrology business unit, Philips Advanced Metrology Systems, Inc. (Philips AMS), has received an additional order for its Series 3300 copper metrology tool from a leading manufacturer of microprocessors in Europe. The sale expands on the company’s February 2005 purchase of multiple Series 3300 tools.
The manufacturer will use the Series 3300 for in-line measurements on the microprocessor’s 90nm copper process lines. The Series 3300 provides high-throughput and low cost-of-ownership (COO) metrology for this application, allowing the manufacturer to improve process control and reduce manufacturing costs both at current and future nodes.
“This additional order helps validate Philips AMS as the emerging leader in building next-generation metrology solutions that meet manufacturers’ challenges of controlling costs and improving yields,” said Bill Gately, General Manager, Philips AMS. “By using Philips AMS tools our customers can be assured that their metrology solution will help them with the challenges around copper and the move to 90 and 45 nm or beyond.”
The Series 3300 was designed to help semiconductor manufacturers solve the challenges inherent in emerging copper/low-k processes. It delivers high-throughput, low COO, non-contact, non-destructive measurements of thickness and uniformity of metal line arrays and pads for all copper/low-k process metrology for 200 mm and 300 mm wafers.
